It's been awhile since I've actually had time to sit down and write a new post. So many things have transpired in the last couple of months, I'm trying to decide where to start!
As many of you know, we had our house up for sale for two years before Amaya was born. I actually never dreamed that we would be in this home with two children (or maybe I was just secretly hoping we wouldn't be)! We decided to take it off the market once she was born knowing that we would be busy with a new little one, and also took a realtor's advice that taking it off the market for awhile and then putting it back up a little while later tends to spark new interest.
Fast forward about six months... an older couple "happens" to mention to Josh's dad, Greg, that they are needing to move out of their home to an assisted living facility and didn't really want to put it up with a realtor. Greg mentioned that we were looking for a home and the couple told us to come over anytime and look at it. We looked at it, loved the location, the fact that there were 3 bedrooms, a large yard for the kids to run and plenty of room for a swingset! The couple at that point hadn't found a particular place that they liked yet, so we just pushed the idea to the back of our minds. It did get us talking about how we should put our home up for sale again. We debated about going with a realtor or doing it for sale by owner. Several incidents, conversations and prayers later, we decided to try it for sale by owner for one month. If we didn't get any interest at that point, we would rethink things.
At this point, the older couple calls us saying that they have found a place and want to know ASAP whether we want the home or not. We prayed about it and felt led to put an offer on the home, not knowing whether they would accept or not. They accept!! Wow #1! We put an ad in our local paper (for our home) on that Wednesday. That day I got a call from a young lady wanting to know more information. Her fiancee calls back Thursday and sets up a time to come see the house that Saturday. They walk through the house once, not saying much at all. Before leaving, the gentleman tells us they are interested (and only looked at the house because it was for sale by owner!), will go to the bank on Monday and call us with an offer after that. We were blown away! However, not even 10 minutes after they left, he calls back with an offer!! Wow #2! We accepted and have our closing scheduled for April 1! We are actually closing on our new home this afternoon! I am honestly in complete awe of how God has orchestrated these and SO many more details I don't even have time to write about! Two years our house was for sale, but it wasn't His timing. This IS His timing! In a housing market the way that it is, we can only give God the glory for working everything out so beautifully.
I just want to encourage you that no matter what you're facing right now, God can and WILL work out all the details in His perfect timing. During the two+ years we have been waiting, God has been working, molding us, calling us to be completely content, to be patient, to be thankful for the home that we have, and to truly lean on Him and trust that He would work things out in His timing - not ours. His hand is surely stamped on every detail of this process and it's amazing how truly blown away we are knowing that HE is the one who worked things out - it wasn't us forcing things to happen or trying to work them out ourselves. To Him be all the glory!
